What is the Hope Scholarship?

The Hope Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship available to Georgia residents who attend eligible post-secondary schools in the state. The scholarship is funded by the Georgia Lottery and is available to students who meet the eligibility requirements.   • Successfully complete three (3) units of social studies, which must include U.S. History, World History, and one additional social studies course.
  • Successfully complete one (1) unit of a foreign language.

In addition to these course requirements, students must also meet a minimum GPA of 3.5 in these courses in order to qualify for the Hope Scholarship. Students who do not meet the minimum GPA in these courses will not be eligible for the scholarship.

Additional Requirements

In addition to the course requirements, Gwinnett County students must also meet the following additional requirements in order to receive the Hope Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete the SAT or ACT.
  • Earn a minimum combined SAT score of 1200 or a minimum composite ACT score of 25.
  • Earn a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in all courses.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) each semester.
